OPEN OPT Board of Director  Postions 22/23

Being an OPT Board Member is not only FUN but very insightful. It is a great way to get to know the school, the staff and the administration on an intimate level. Being involved allows you an opportunity to engage in a deeper way and impact the present and future of the OPT - and in turn, our students' experiences.  Pull up a seat, there is room at the table!

OPEN Board of Director Positions for 22/23

Terms: All roles are 2-year terms (when possible)

Time Commitment: Positions vary in time commitment. All positions will require attendance at one monthly Board of Directors Meeting and approximately three General Assembly Meetings, spaced out across the school year. Each Board Member has an assigned email account they are expected to check on a weekly basis.

Vice-President Enrichment

  • Schedule Assemblies (2-3 per year)

  • Arrange Guest Speakers (1 – 2 per year; could be for students, staff, or both)

  • Arrange Parent Education (1-2 per year)

  • Support Veteran’s Day Efforts (support school’s needs) (1 x year)

  • Promote Earth Day/Campus Beautification (support school’s needs) (1 x year)

  • Serve as PNB Nutcracker Contact (support school’s needs) (1 x year)

  • Support Grade-Level Service-Learning Projects (support school’s needs) (ongoing)

  • Season of Gratitude & Giving (will have a committee chair) (1 x year)

  • Book Storywalk through King County Library System (1 x year)

  • Book Fair (support school’s needs/arrange volunteers) (1-2 x year)

  • Oversee STEAM Fair (will have a committee chair) (1 x year)

  • Oversee Math Night (could have a committee chair) (1 x year) 

  • Oversee Literacy Night (could have a committee chair) (1 x year)

This position works closely with the President, Principal and VP of Family Engagement.

Vice-President Fundraising

  • Supplemental Academic Fee Collection (Promotion, Tracking and Incentives) (1 x year)

  • Independent Donation + Company Matching Promotion (ongoing)

  • Fall Fundraiser/Dance-A-Thon (could have a committee chair) (1 x year)

  • Spirit Wear Sales (fall only)

  • Uniform Store (ongoing but biggest pushes are Fall and Spring)

  • Evergreen Eats Out (3 x year)

  • Auction (will have a committee chair) (every other year) 

This position works closely with the President, Principal and VP of Family Engagement.

Treasurer

  • General banking (ongoing)

  • Create proposed budget for each school year (work with other members of the Board)

  • Maintain budget through use of Money Minder (weekly)

  • Month end reconciliation (budget vs. bank)

  • Present budget to General Assembly (fall and spring)

  • Prepare Treasurer’s reports for Board meetings and General Assembly meetings (monthly)

  • Renew 501c3 Status with IRS and State (annually)

  • Renew Insurance (annually)

  • Renew Benevity (corporate matching program) (annually)

  • Renew Amazon Smile (annually)

  • Issue reimbursement checks (weekly)

  • Organize name change overs for OPT BofA Account/Cards (annually)

  • Track and organize reimbursement forms, receipts and checks (weekly, if needed)

  • Familiarize self with Square (our processing company) (ongoing)

This position works closely with the President.

Secretary

  • Work with President to create meeting agendas for Board and General Assembly Meetings

  • Act as notetaker and record meeting minutes for Board Meetings and General Assembly Meetings

  • Keep OPT documents up to date (By-Laws, Roles and Responsibilities, etc.)

  • Assist President with other tasks as needed (meeting reminders, voting processes, volunteer recruitment, newsletters (2-3/year), etc.)

This is an excellent position for someone who wants to be involved in the OPT at a more in-depth level, but also cannot take on the commitment that other positions may entail.
